Feeling adventurous? Preview upcoming Google Chrome features before they’re released and give us feedback to make Chrome a better browser. Dec 22, 2009 The red squiggly line that shows up under words is indeed the result of the Mac’s built-in spelling subsystem highlighting words that it believes you have misspelled. Sometimes it’s right, and other times, well, it can get confused about names and slang, not to mention it doesn’t like obscenities either. To turn highlight mode on or off, click the Highlight button in the toolbar. When highlight mode is on, highlights appear when you select text. To change the highlight color or switch to strikethrough or underline, click next to the Hightlight button, then choose an option. As mentioned above the print setup on Mac is based on CUPS, an open source modular printing system developed by Apple for Unix based systems. CUPS interface is disabled by default in macOS. Follow the steps below to enable CUPS browser interface on your Mac. Make sure that you are logged into your Admin Account on Mac. Use any font installed on your Mac. Apply text effects: bold, italics, underline, strikethrough, superscript, subscript, outline and shadow. Stretch text non-proportionally. Photos and Images. The Pages app for Mac is a free and easy way to edit word documents on your Apple computer, but there is an annoying right side-bar that can get in the way of looking at two documents on screen at once. Here is how to hide the right sidebar in pages.

In Pages on OS X the right sidebar shows either Format or Setup, and it is handy if you need to quickly work with document formatting or setup options, but for most uses it gets in the way.

It is possible to hide the right sidebar, but it is not obvious where users need to click to hide it. Further complicating matters is the issue that you will need to click in a different spot depending which option is showing in the right sidebar in pages, even though sometimes it is blank.

Here’s how you can remove the right sidebar in Pages for Mac. This works on OS X Yosemite and OS X El Capitan.

With Pages active, click on Format or Document in the right sidebar. This will make one of them blue. Next click on View in the menu bar, Inspector and then Hide Inspector. This will hide the Format and Setup sidebar in Pages.

Hide Inspector to hide the right sidebar in Pages for OS X.

If you need to do this often or you need to unhide it and rehide it on a regular basis, the keyboard shortcut Option + Command + I will do the same thing without clicking into the menus over and over. To use a keyboard shortcut like this you need to press all of the keys at the same time.

In our tests Pages does not remember to hide the right sidebar, so you may find yourself doing this over and over again if you need to keep two documents side-by-side or you want to focus on what you are writing.

If you want fewer distractions on the screen you can also hide the toolbar at the top of pages by going to View -> Hide Toolbar or using the key combination Command + Option + T to hide it without clicking.

Font appearances[edit]

  • These images compare Roman fonts only, in most styles:
  • The fonts in the following list were included as 'extras' with AppleWorks 6,[2] which was bundled with new iMacs until 2006.[3]

Hidden fonts[edit]

A number of fonts have also been provided with iMovie, iLife, iDVD and other Apple applications in hidden folders, for the sole use of these applications. The reason why these fonts are hidden is unknown, with licensing issues suggested as the cause. However, one may easily install them for use by all applications by copying them out of their Library directories and installing them as with any third-party font, although one should always check that the license for the fonts allows them to be used outside the given software.[4]

Notable hidden fonts on macOS include Bank Gothic, Bodoni, Century Gothic, Century Schoolbook, Garamond, several cuts of Lucida and Monotype Twentieth Century.
